About Ron

ron.salsbury_4Ron has a characteristic way of bringing God’s Word to us with simple examples, or “props”. His combination of passion, humor, and media are truly unique.

On one occasion he brought in an Olympic champion archer to illustrate the “Arrows of the Enemy”. With each point of the message, an arrow flew across the stage behind the pastor (fortunately, each hitting the bullseye). Needless to say, everyone in the congregation was attentive.

Pastor Ron is passionate about how God is really in love with each one of us and that there is a hope in every one of God’s promises.

Ron hails from Pasadena, California and attended the Los Angeles First Church of the Nazarene (founded in 1895) from a young age. Ron served as a recording artist and leader of a praise band during the “Jesus Movement” in the ’70’s, and was elected to the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) in 1972. Ron graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena in 1986, and was ordained by the Church of the Nazarene that same year. He has been the Senior Pastor of New Life Community Church in Pismo Beach since 1993.

One of Ron’s favorite things is camping and back-packing in the High Sierra (especially Yosemite) with his wife Cathi and his grown family, Jeff and Sara.

His favorite Bible verse: Psalm 18.
